System Time-Outs   This system will automatically log you out after around 45 minutes of no activity. The server tracks "activity" through back-and-forth communication between your computer and the server, like when you click on something and get a new page. If you are typing into a text box, there is no communication with the server until you save.

Picture this: you are entering a class policy, typing it in for an hour, and you click save. All of a sudden you are at the login screen and there is no trace of the last hour of work. Or in some cases it just jumps to the login screen in mid-type.

You hadn't been "communicating" with the server for over 45 minutes, so it figured you were not active and logged you out.

To prevent this, about every 30 minutes of a long haul entry, save what you are working on (like you are done with it) and go to another section of the syllabus program (just to be sure). For example, if you are typing a CV, save it and go look at a list of syllabi and then come back and pick up where you left off. This tells the server you are still active, saves your progress, and lets you verify it has been saved correctly. Highly recommended if you are doing a lot of typing.
